Sorry dogs, but your days of roaming Westport beaches are almost up. Starting April 1, no animals will be allowed at any town beach, including Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill, Parks and Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy announced Monday.
"Animals will not be permitted on any beach property, which includes all grass, sand and the parking areas, except Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach, as well as the roads within the beach area," McCarthy said in a statement.
This seasonal ban will be in effect until Oct. 1. Also, beginning May 1, all vehicles entering town beaches will need parking emblems.
