David J. McClatchie, CEO of Westport Finance Firm

WESTPORT, Conn. – A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday for David J. McClatchie, president and CEO of the Westport-based wealth management firm Comprehensive Planning Associates LTD., who died Aug. 4 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 72.

Born March 12, 1939, in Syracuse, N.Y., McClatchie had been a Westport resident for the past 24 years. He was the husband of Carol (Papagno) McClatchie.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, McClatchie received his bachelor's and master's in business administration degrees from the University of Bridgeport. He also held a degree as a certified financial planner and was a member of the Financial Planning Association and National Association of Tax Professionals.

Outside his career, McClatchie was a member of the Navy League and Westport's Assumption Church.

In addition to his wife, McClatchie is survived by three sons, Eric R. Brunner and his wife Mary of Gorham, Maine; Christopher M. Brunner of Bridgeport; and Matthew G. Brunner and his wife Kelly of Westbrook, Maine; two daughters, Laura E. McClatchie of Easton and Gretchen M. Brunner of Bridgeport; three sisters, Joyce Jones of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Janet Quinn of Sedona, Ariz., and Judith Jones of Newark, Del; and 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
