An after-hours trip to Westport's Compo Beach early Sunday landed Norwalk resident Brandon Roe in jail. While checking the beach, a patrol officer found Roe's unoccupied car in the parking lot. When the officer went over to the car, he saw an open bottle of vodka in plain sight and two shot glasses in the center console.
Roe, 19, and a juvenile female were seen walking on the beach. A further search of the car turned up a syringe and three folds of heroin in a box in the center console. Roe was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, risk of injury to a child and possession of alcohol by a minor. He's due in court March 16.
The girl, whose name and age were not released, was picked up at the beach by her father.
Also from the police blotter:
Bridgeport resident Tamara Kelly, 36, turned herself in to Westport police Friday knowing the department held a warrant for her arrest. The warrant stemmed from a December traffic accident in which Kelly reportedly struck a pole on Clapboard Hill Road. She was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right. She is due in court March 14.
