The concrete-block shell of the Adirondack-style building is largely complete, and workers expect the building to be weather-tight by mid-December, the YMCA said in a statement.
As the building is fully enclosed and temporary heat established, finish work will begin, including drywall and tape, and ceramic tile. Within the next two months, excavation of the pools will be complete, and forming of the pool “vessels” will be well underway.
The connecting road from Route 33 at the Exit 41 northbound on-off ramp of the Merritt Parkway has been widened to four lanes, paved and painted with temporary lines. Guardrails are being installed, and the adjacent commuter parking lot has been paved as part of the project.
