WESTPORT, Conn. — The towering crane that has been standing high over downtown Westport will soon move onto another construction site.
Construction crews were working to dismantle the crane at the Bedford Square construction site Wednesday afternoon. Another crane at the site appeared to load a piece of the crane onto a flatbed truck.
The Bedford Square project is planned to invigorate downtown Westport with new retail, residential, office and restaurant uses , the Daily Voice previously reported.
The project includes the complete renovation and restoration of the stately 1923 Bedford Mansion and historic firehouse. It also entails the removal and replacement of the former YMCA’s Weeks Pavilion Complex and the buildings on the adjoining Gunn property.
