It's no surprise that plenty of fresh produce is available at Sherwood Farm,. After all, it has been run by the same family since 1713. But Liz Doemland, one of the workers at the farm, says there's more than just fresh honey and vegetables available.
Sherwood Farm is one of several farms in Easton, including Sport Hill Farm, that offers a Community Supported Agriculture program. Through a prepaid arrangement, customers can choose vegetables from the farm's harvest. The farm's website describes the program as "individuals coming together as a community to pledge financial support to a farm operation so that the farmland in essence becomes an extension of the community." In other words, the subscription program helps keep the farm going.
Baskets filled with fresh produce are set aside for those who are a part of the program.
Doemland said that what's unique about the farm is that it has been in one family for centuries. And even some young Sherwoods are involved in the business. The Sherwood's daughters can sometimes be seen helping show customers the freshest goods for the week.
Sherwood Farm is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
