Committee To Present Study On History Of Westport Center

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Village District Steering Committee will hold a public meeting on Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium  to present a draft National Register Nomination Study for Westport Center.

Included in the presentation will be the significance of the area, criteria for requirements for listing, steps preceding the nomination, historic development, area buildings, initial findings, key features of the district, importance of the designation to the town and its benefits to the property owners.

The study is a component of the Village District Study intended to insure that preservation of the historic character of the town is an integral part of the future planning process.
