Cherished Family Man Dies at 54

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday morning at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk for former Westport resident Alexander D'Agostino, 54, who died Aug. 21 in Norwalk Hospital. Burial followed at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.

Known to his family as Sandy, he was born Oct. 27, 1955, to the late Colombo and Jessie (Lanteri) D'Agostino in New York City.

Raised and educated in Yonkers, D'Agostino moved to Westport in 1990. Though he later settled in Norwalk, he held close ties to Westport, where his two children reside.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed boating on the Sound, fly-fishing, golfing and vacationing by the ocean. But above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children.

In 1986, D'Agostino began his career as an executive recruiter for Weatherby Healthcare. He later went to work for Teed & Co. in Norwalk, where he was employed at the time of his death.

He is survived by his a daughter, Jessica, and son, Thomas, both of Westport; a sister, Maryellen Mix (Barry) of New Milford; two brothers, Stephen (Pam) of Leonardo, N.J., and Peter (Denise) of Somers, N.Y.; two nieces and five nephews. He also leaves behind his life partner of 10 years, Denise Gagne, and his former wife, Ellen DeHuff, with whom he remained close.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to World Teach, an organization through which his daughter plans to teach a year in Costa Rica. Those who would like to support her can make donations online at www.worldteach.org in the name of Jessica D'Agostino/Costa Rica. To leave condolences, visit the website, www.collinsfh.com .
