Information on making "the best choices ... for caring for Mom and Dad as they age" will be available Monday at a free Senior Health and Wellness Day. "This is not just for seniors," said Nancy McCormick of the Weston Senior Center, the session's sponsor, but also for "their adult children and caregivers."
The event will take place at the Wilton Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will feature representatives of nursing homes, visiting nurse services, senior transportation companies, as well as a massage therapist and chronic pain management specialist.
Experts will discuss the signs and symptoms of elder abuse and how to report it, how to choose a health care aide, how to detect scams and how to safe-proof your home to prevent falls. Blood pressure screening and a nutritionist will also be available.
There will be entertainment from pianist Bob at noon, door prizes and a Wii demonstration.
