WESTPORT, Conn. A carport attached to the home at 5 Berkeley Place collapsed Thursday night after a car reportedly hit one of its support columns, Assistant Fire Chief Larry Conklin said.
Westport firefighters were called to the home at about 4:45 p.m. and stabilized the roof to prevent further damage.
No one was home at the time the 32-foot by 32-foot carport collapsed, and no injuries were reported. The last fire department unit left the home just before 6 p.m.
