WESTPORT, Conn. – An unidentified woman was sent to Norwalk Hospital Friday night after she was struck by a car while crossing Westport’s Post Road East near East Main Street, Westport Police said.
The woman was hit at approximately 7 p.m. by a car traveling in the eastbound lane, Westport Police Capt. Sam Arciola said in a news release. There was no crosswalk where she was walking, he said.
The first officer to arrive found the woman lying in the road and began medical treatment, Arciola said. The extent of her injuries was not disclosed.
The driver of the car, Arciola added, was on scene when police arrived.
The accident is being investigated by the Westport Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit and Detective Bureau.
