A car crashed into a building on Riverside Avenue in Westport early Friday morning. Westport police and firefighters responded to the call at about 6:52 a.m. and found a Chevy Camaro crashed into the front of Design Upholstery at 22 Riverside Ave.
The driver of the car, who was treated by Westport EMS, said her gas pedal got stuck, leading the car to accelerate and hit the building, Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kepchar said. Steve Smith, the town's building official, evaluated the structural damage to the building.
Westport police blocked off part of the roadway until the scene was cleared at about 8:10 a.m.
