Bounced Check to Police Lands Woman in Hot Water

Paying for outstanding parking tickets with a bad check is not a smart idea, just ask Seymour resident Tracee Damiani, who allegedly did just that.

According to police reports, Damiani, 30, wrote a check for $1,565 to the Westport Police Department in August for parking violations she had racked up. But the check was returned for insufficient funds.

Damiani was arrested Friday afternoon at work and was charged with issuing a bad check. She is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 7.

Also from the police blotter:

• Westport resident Cody Ropiak of 436 Riverside Ave. was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly got into a fight over a parking spot. During the argument, Ropiak, 19, reportedly pulled a small knife out from his pocket and threatened the other person. Ropiak also punched a window and injured himself. He was charged with threatening and breach of peace. He is due in court Feb. 9.
