Body Found In Harbor Is Identified

The body of an 88-year-old man found floating in the waters of the Saugatuck Harbor Yacht Club in Westport Saturday morning has been identified as that of Richard A. Terry of North Haven.

Lt. Vincent Penna said an investigation showed that Terry had an appointment at a Westport home that backs up to the marina area of the club.

Authorities said they found evidence suggesting there had been a car accident, leading them to believe Terry's car had driven off the driveway and into the water. Westport Police and Fire Dive Team found the car about 75 feet from the shore in 15 feet of water.

Although foul play is not suspected, Penna said the investigation will remain open until results from Terry's autopsy has been released.
