Superintendent of Schools Jerome Belair praised new Hurlbutt Vice Principal Doreen O'Leary Monday night for her strong work ethic and involvement in schools. "She walks the talk," Belair said, speaking at the last Board of Education meeting of the school year. "If she asks teachers to do something, she's right there along with them."
O'Leary will take over for Kevin Santiana in July, who, according to the school, will return to teaching.
Since 2009, O'Leary, a Georgetown graduate and New Canaan resident, has been project manager for the GE Foundation's Developing Futures in Education Program in the Stamford schools. Before that, she was the Curriculum Associate for Elementary Math in Stamford and a third and fourth grade teacher at Toquam Magnet School in Stamford.
Previously, O'Leary who has an MBA from UCLA and a master's in elementary education from Sacred Heart University, worked in corporate finance.
