Legesse, 26, represented Ethiopia at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She ran in 1,500 meters event but was eliminated in the first round of heats.

She was eating lunch at a restaurant in Hamden when she collapsed and was taken to the hospital, WFSB said. Her friends are quoted as saying she had to stop running after developing heart problems.
