Anthony Fiore, Retired Westport Police Inspector

WESTPORT, Conn. – Native Westport resident Anthony "Snoop" Fiore, a retired Westport police inspector, died Nov. 23 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 80.

Husband of Sue Kline Fiore, he was born in his family's homestead on Ketchum Street in the Saugatuck section of Westport. He graduated from Staples High School in 1949 and attended the University of Maryland and Babson College.

Fiore joined the Westport Police Department on July 1, 1956. He retired after 30 years on April 1, 1986, with the rank of inspector.

Fiore was a member of the Police Benevolent Association. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Fiore is survived by his two sons, Michael Fiore of Connecticut and Paul Fiore of Fruita, Colo.; three stepsons, John Watson and his wife Deborah Burns of Summerville, S.C., Robert Watson and his wife Karen of Westport, and Craig Watson and his wife Shery of Redding; one brother, Joseph Fiore of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a stepdaughter, Cindy "Gracie" D'Aiuto; two brothers, Hannibal and Salvatore Fiore; and three sisters, Aida Rakoczi, Clare Robinson and Gloria Stapkowski.

A memorial service will take place at noon Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Green's Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road. At the request of the family, calling hours have been omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport PBA, 50 Jesup Road, Westport, CT 06880.
