WESTPORT, Conn. – Residents have less than a week to enjoy Westport’s beaches with their pooches. Beginning next Monday, animals will not be allowed at town beaches until the fall, Parks and Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy announced.
This annual seasonal ban will be in effect until Oct. 1, McCarthy said. It includes Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill beaches, he said.
“Animals will not be permitted on any beach property, which includes all grass, sand, and the parking areas— except the Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach— as well as the roads within the beach area,” McCarthy said in a statement.
Also, beginning May 1, all cars entering town beaches will be required to have parking emblems, McCarthy said.
