Amtrak, Shoreline East Service Resumes After Death On Tracks Near Guilford

GUILFORD, Conn. — A person was hit and killed on the tracks by a Boston-bound Amtrak Acela train just west of the Guilford East station, according to the New Haven Register.

The person was hit and killed at about 8:25 a.m., an Amtrak official told the Register. No details were released on the victim's identity, age, gender or hometown or why they were on the tracks.

The accident halted all Amtrak and Shoreline East train service through the area for about two hours, delaying a number of trains, the Register said.

The accident occurred near the track intersection with New Quarry Road near the town line with Branford, the Register said.
