A Stamford man called 911 during a three-hour standoff with his cat, complaining that his ferocious 7.5-pound feline attacked and bit him as he tried to enter his residence. During the call, he asked police for help dealing with the cat, who had given birth to a kitten the day before. Dr. Elizabeth Zimels, a veterinarian at Broad River Animal Hospital in Norwalk, said such aggressive behavior is rare but can happen when a cat is protecting kittens and it can be dangerous.

The man who was hit and killed by a Metro-North Railroad train May 27 after lying down on the tracks near the Fairfield Metro station has been identified as Bridgeport resident Modeba Keita, 32.
