Dozens will march to City Hall to deliver a petition with hundreds of signatures to the City Council.
Participants include Make the Road Connecticut members and community members, elected officials, Council Member Jose Casco and Sauda Baraka, Bridgeport school board member; Bridgeport Education Association (BEA) CT Students of a Dream, 32BJ, Bridgeport Generation Now, CT Core, Connecticut Immigrant Rights Alliance (CIRA), and Latino Advocacy Organization of Fairfield County.
Many immigrant families in Bridgeport are fearful of President-Elect Donald Trump’s promise to tear families apart and push policies rooted in racial profiling and discrimination of immigrants and refugees, said the announcement.
The rally will begin at the high school at 2:30 p.m. and culminate at 4 p.m. at City Hall, 45 Lyon Terrace, Bridgeport.
Bassick High School is located at 1181 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport.
Bridgeport City Hall is located at 45 Lyon Terrace, Bridgeport.
