WESTON, Conn. Lyons Plain Road at White Birch Ridge was closed for 17 hours Sunday after a driver crashed his Subaru into a telephone pole that split and fluid from the transformer leaked onto the roadway, police said.
Robert Watman, 66, of Weston, was northbound on Lyons Plain Road at 2:55 p.m. when his right tire blew out. He lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole.
Watman was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license and was given a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane. He was evaluated by the EMS and later transported to Norwalk Hospital.
