WESTPORT, Conn. Three New York men were arrested in Westport Tuesday and charged with using fraudulent credit cards following a complaint that a man had made a purchase with a fake credit card, police said.
Police were called to Castle Wine and Spirits on Post Road East around 1 p.m., where they were provided with descriptions of the suspect and two other people in the car used by the suspect. The license plate number and description of the car were also provided, Capt. Sam Arciola said in a statement.
Shortly after, Officer Dave Librandi spotted the car and its occupants outside of Dans Liquors on Post Road East. The car was stopped once it pulled out of the parking lot.
During the investigation, police learned that the suspects, John Bunche of the Bronx, Deon Crenshaw of Jamaica, N.Y., and Danny Daniels of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., had purchased merchandise at Greens Farms Liquors and had attempted to make a purchase at Dans Liquors. Police recovered eight fraudulent credit cards and proceeds from the illegal purchases at the scene, Arciola said
Bunche, 30, was charged with credit card fraud, fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud. He was held on a $4,000 bond and is due in court on April 13.
Crenshaw, 34, and Daniels, 34, were charged with conspiracy to commit credit card fraud. Each was held on a $2,000 bond and is due in court on April 13.
In addition to the criminal charges both Bunche and Daniels were issued infractions for illegal possession of marijuana after small bags of marijuana were found in their possession, Arciola said.
