Three people were sent to the hospital following an early morning crash on Hyde Lane in Westport Monday.
Around 3 a.m., the Westport Fire Department responded to a call of a car smashing into a tree. Upon arrival, firefighters found a convertible BMW with the top down and the three occupants inside, two of whom were trapped, Assistant Chief Robert Yost reported.
The impact pushed the engine and dashboard back into the passenger compartment, trapping the front seat occupants. Westport Police officers kept the occupants calm and treated their injuries while firefighters set up lights and extricated the victims. Once the car was deemed safe, firefighters assisted police in treating the victims.
Westport EMS and Norwalk Hospital EMS transported the victims to the hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.
