Neither Benjamin Gifford of Norwalk nor Nicholas Sicilian of Trumbull was buying a snack Friday afternoon at the Country Store on Newtown Turnpike in Westport. According to police reports, a plainclothes officer went inside the store and saw Gifford, 29, allegedly purchase drugs from Sicilian, 21. The drugs later were identified as Oxycodone. Gifford was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Sicilian was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics and sale of a hallucinogenic/narcotic. Both men are due in court Sept. 20.

? Westport police pulled over Francois Balogh of Norwalk on Saugatuck Avenue on Saturday night for driving without his headlights. When Balogh, 57, was stopped, the officer could smell alcohol on his breath. Balogh failed field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 21.
