EASTON, Conn. Helen Keller Middle School thespians will take to the Joel Barlow High School stage with their rendition of the Gift of the Gods on Friday and Saturday night. In addition, Liza Minnelli will star in a gala performance Friday at the Palace Theatre to benefit the Stamford Center for the Arts, while Gary Puckett and the Union Gap will be rocking out the oldies in Bridgeports Cabaret Theater on Saturday. There are also Easter events, as well a road race in Easton and some stargazing in Weston. Here are details on what is happening this weekend:
Friday, March 30
Pesticide forum: 1 to 4 p.m., Organic Gardens/Landscapes Tour; 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Pesticides 101; 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. reception, welcome and keynote speaker.

Roadmap to the Stars astronomy program, 7 p.m.
Dr. Kevin Manning will guide participants in identifying objects in the night sky using telescopes. Program is held outside, weather permitting. The free program, sponsored by the Weston Public Library, is appropriate for all ages. Weston Middle School Library, 135 School Road.
Liza Minnelli, gala event to benefit Stamford Center for the Arts, 8 p.m.

5K Race, 9:30 a.m.
The April Fools 5K Race for DARE steps off from Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register online at www.darerace.musicmaniadjs.com.
Food for Thought Expo, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Free

Train rides with the Easter Bunny, every 30 minutes from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The Danbury Railway Museum will be offering vintage train rides to the Easter Bunny's special railroad coach car. Admission also includes a small gift for children from the Easter Bunny and temporary tattoos as well as activities at a coloring station, a Thomas play table, operating layouts and museum exhibits. Gary Puckett and the Union Gap will be performing in two shows at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre. Lyme Disease Walk and Run; registration and check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.
The fourth annual walk/run to Turn the Corner on Lyme will be held at Sherwood Island State Park. Proceeds help fight Lyme disease and tick-borne diseases on behalf of the Turn the Corner Foundation. The event will include a 5K and 10K run, and a 1.5-mile and 3-mile walk within the park, with information stations, music, food and more. Early registration fees are $25 per person, $70 per family, and children under 10 are free. Onsite registration fees are $35 per person, $80 per family, and children under 10 are free. Ukrainian Egg Decorating, 2 p.m.
The process of decorating a Ukrainian egg is taught by Susan Clark, using a wax batik method and incorporating symbols, colors and shapes. Participants can decorate eggs with traditional designs or designs of their own creation. The event is open to children and adults ages 9 and up. The cost is $15 per person. Indian Foot Path Discussions, 4 p.m.
