WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport's Nicole Straight will compete in this year's Curtain Call’s Dancing with the Stars on May 17.
Straight will be one of the star dancers in this year’s competition at Stamford’s Palace Theater. Curtain Call is Stamford’s longest-running community theater.
Patterned after the hit television show, this is the sixth year it will be held at The Palace Theatre in Stamford. Judges’ Choice Awards are presented in male and female categories and are based on the performance at the event. Peoples’ Choice Awards are presented in male and female categories and are based on the number of votes secured in advance and the night of the event. “Votes” are sold beginning at $10.00 each and are a major component of the fundraising for this event. (Votes are like sponsorships in a walk-a-thon.)
“I was thrilled to be asked to participate this year, how many times in my life would I have this opportunity? It was a no-brainer.” says Straight, who is the marketing manager for Marcia Selden Catering, an award-winning catering and event planning company located in Stamford. Her partner is Ted Thomas, owner of the New England Academy of Dance in New Canaan. Straight goes on to say, “I’m so excited to represent Westport, and hope to bring home the win. My friends and the community have been incredibly supportive.”
Now celebrating its 23rd season, Curtain Call is the nonprofit community-based theater company in residence at the Sterling Farms complex, 1349 Newfield Ave. in Stamford.
