Though the sun was shining Thursday afternoon, no golfers were found teeing off at the Longshore Golf Course, which officially opened for play Wednesday.
Perhaps it was because temperatures peaked at only about 45 degrees. But for those willing to bear the cold weather, winter rates will be charged, announced Stuart McCarthy, director of Parks and Recreation.
And until the weather is better, temporary tees and greens will be in use and play will be on a walkup basis. No reserved times will be available until the greens are open.
Golfers: Is it still too cold for you to hit the green? When do you take to the course?
