Formerly known as the Music and Art Center for Humanity, Neighborhood Studios is a nonprofit community arts school that offers after-school and summer arts programs to students from kindergarten through post-high school in Bridgeport and the surrounding towns.

Levine, a retired advertising executive who recently stepped down as chairman of Neighborhood Studios, had been involved with the nonprofit for 25 years. Chairman for seven years, he helped bring AileyCamp, a summer youth dance program run by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, to Neighborhood Studios.

AileyCamp’s Bridgeport program is one of only six such programs in the country, according to the nonprofit.

Some of Levine’s other contributions included working with local and regional leaders to secure a lease for Neighborhood Studios’ current location and funding to renovate the facility. He also worked with Bridgeport Public Schools Superintendent Paul Vallas to provide arts, music and dance programs for children during and after school and during the summer.

Levine was a founding partner of Levine, Huntley, Schmidt & Beaver, an ad agency that in 1989 was named “Agency of the Year” by AdWeek.

Outside of Neighborhood Studios, he has served the boards of numerous other organizations, including the Fairfield County Community Foundation and the New York Advertising Foundation. He is currently a member of the Westport Library Advisory Council.

Levine will be honored with a performance by Ailey II, the second company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The performance, also a fundraiser for Neighborhood Studios, will begin at 7 p.m. A recognition ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.
