WESTPORT, Conn. - The Westport Young Women's League announced Caroline House, an education center specializing in helping young women and children in Bridgeport, was awarded the organization's $10,000 Super Grant.

Caroline House has helped more than 1,400 women and children since the School Sisters of Notre Dame opened the center in 1995. The money will go toward pre-school education in science, math and reading.

Ways & Means Committee chair Lucy Ambrosino explained the importance of the award. “The Super Grant we award allows us to have a major impact on one non-profit agency and the people they serve.”

League president Nathalie Fonteyne praised the league's fund-raising skills. “Our members work hard during the year on our fund-raising activities, including Craft Westport and the Minute Man Race. The money we raise at those events is dedicated to our grant program.”

The organization has raised more than $4.2 million since being founded in 1956.
