Caroline House has helped more than 1,400 women and children since the School Sisters of Notre Dame opened the center in 1995. The money will go toward pre-school education in science, math and reading.

Ways & Means Committee chair Lucy Ambrosino explained the importance of the award. “The Super Grant we award allows us to have a major impact on one non-profit agency and the people they serve.”

League president Nathalie Fonteyne praised the league's fund-raising skills. “Our members work hard during the year on our fund-raising activities, including Craft Westport and the Minute Man Race. The money we raise at those events is dedicated to our grant program.”

The organization has raised more than $4.2 million since being founded in 1956.
