Westport Tree Board Offers Tree Seedling Giveaway

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Tree Board will celebrate Arbor Day with a tree seedling giveaway on Friday, April 29, from 2 to 5 p.m at the Lillian Wadsworth Arboretum, 2 Woodside Lane.

A table will be set up near the corner of Stonybrook Road and Woodside Avenue for the event.

The Tree Board and Westport Tree Warden Bruce Lindsay will be handing out the seedling trees, which will consist of 200 flowering dogwoods, 100 Norway spruces and 100 river birches.

The seedlings will come with planting instructions for school-age children and adults, and will be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The giveaway is sponsored by Eversource Energy in recognition of Arbor Day.

“The Tree Board and I are looking to get Westport’s citizens the chance to see a working arboretum and appreciate the value of planting a young tree in the community,” Lindsay said.
