WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport’s Hannah Bukzin was one of 16 teenagers invited to compete on "Chopped," a cooking reality show hosted by The Food Network.

But her run on the show didn't last long: Bukzin, 14, was eliminated in Tuesday’s episode of the competitive cooking show.

Bukzin, a rising sophomore at Staples High School, taught herself cooking and has never taken a cooking class, according to her biography on the "Chopped" website.

The bio also says she is interested in becoming a neurosurgeon. Bukzin, who never follows recipes, shows a creative side in her cooking and one of her favorites is roasted branzino with lentils. Readers can find out more about Bukzin by viewing her video on the Chopped website .

Filming for the show took an entire day. Bukzin competed against three other young chefs, and only one was selected to be among the final four for the grand finale episode.

The episode with Bukzin will air again at 11 p.m. on Thursday. It will also air on Friday and Saturday.

Bukzin is no stranger to cooking competition. She competed in First County Bank's Teen Chefs Challenge in March at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center during its Maple Sugar Festival Weekend. She was one of four teens who competed to create the best-tasting recipe, as judged by the public, using maple syrup as an ingredient.
