Westport Rotary To Host Lobster Fest Fundraiser

WESTPORT, Conn. — Toast the end of summer with friends and family Sept. 22 at Compo Beach during the first annual Westport Rotary Club Lobster Fest.

The crustacean celebration will feature food and fun for Westporters of all ages. For $40, adults can choose between a dinner of two boiled lobsters or New York strip steak. Each dinner will be served with corn, red potatoes, cole slaw, bread and butter, peppermint patties, and beer or wine.

Texas Roadhouse will prepare the steaks, and Rotarians will cook the lobsters on-site. Beaver Beer, a company started by three Westport residents, will provide the brew.

Kids ages 3-12 will have a choice of hot dogs or chicken fingers with chips and water or soda. Children’s tickets are $10.

The event will also include a performance by Ship of Fools.

“We have received tremendous support in planning for this event and are looking forward to the beach party of the year,” Julia Broder, president of the Westport Rotary, said in a statement.

The Westport Rotary Club provides funds to local charities and community service organizations, as well as to Rotary International’s campaign to eradicate polio worldwide. Proceeds from the event will help the club continue to support these initiatives.

The Lobster Fest will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Compo Beach. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available online, at Joey’s by the Shore, 64 Compo Beach Road; Wells Fargo Bank, 422 Post Road E.; and Fairfield County Bank, 20 Compo Road S. Tickets may also be purchased from Rotarians.
