Westport Prepares To Honor Its Own Heroes For Veterans Day

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Town of Westport will honor its heroes when it holds Veterans Day services on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the Town Hall auditorium, according to William Vornkahl, president of the Westport Veterans Council.

At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Westport Community Band, under the direction of Sal LaRusso, will present a “Patriotic Salute to All Veterans” program. It will include marches and patriotic tunes. 

The services will begin at 11 a.m. and include the Veterans Day address by Staples High School senior Kevin Watt and Veterans Day remarks by First Selectman James Marpe.

"Taps" will be played by Staples High School students Samantha Atlas and Emily Burke, followed by prayers by the Rev. Alison Buttrick Patton, pastor of Saugatuck Congregational Church.

The Westport Police will provide the firing detail. 

The public is invited to attend.
