Westport Neighbors Notes

WESTPORT, Conn. — The wicked witches of Westport were flying through the air, hovering over Main Street, drowning the annual Halloween parade with their tears.

But not even a witch could dampen the young spirits who gathered at Town Hall to celebrate Halloween. The annual Halloween parade has become a tradition with Westport’s kids thanks to the Downtown Merchants Association, Parks & Recreation and the Westport Police Athletic League.

The Westport Young Woman’s League, however, hosted its annual children's Halloween party on a sunny and warm day. Emily Hall entertained the little ones while the moms socialized. Emily’s own mom, MaryAnn Hall, is a member of the league and she knows how special this event is. Thanks to Athina Meehan for coordinating such a wonderful party and to all the children who sparkled in their customs.

Everyone is enjoying the fresh fall air, even some local pets. Feisty Tucker Openshaw stole some pumpkins while his family enjoyed some fresh air in the back yard. Tucker’s mom, Lynne, is still wondering what happened to that pumpkin?

Looking for some more fun this weekend? Coleytown Middle School is hosting its annual Monster Mash on Friday and Staples High School is having its homecoming on Saturday. Down Under Kayaking is having a Halloween Parade for 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. You can paddle board on the beautiful Saugatuck River free.
