Westport Neighbors Notes

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Summer is finally here. Last Sunday, beach babes Zoe Engle, Erica Hefnawy, Jackie Hiner and Gia Marone had fun in the sun before they all went off to different camps. It’s their last summer before high school and the girls enjoyed the beautiful weather and each other before heading to camp. Zoe will go to King School in Stamford while the other gals will attend Staples in the fall. Best of luck, ladies!

Check out Coleytown Elementary School fifth-grade girls  moving up to middle school. Congratulations girls, soon you will be making plans for high school, too!

Dave Keeton celebrated his birthday with a great crowd, enjoying Beatlemania as the show rocked the Levitt Pavilion. The Levitt has a great summer concert series lined up. Visit www.levittpavilion.com for the schedule and information. The Levitt Pavilion for Performing Arts will produce 60 free nights of entertainment, so pack a picnic and enjoy an evening by the Saugatuck River.

Hats off to all the wonderful people who volunteer for Westport’s Mentor Program. It’s run by supermom Elaine Daignault, who places young people with the perfect mentor for their needs. Feel free to contact Elaine to learn more at EDAIGNAULT@westportct.gov . Bill Meyer is one of the most respected volunteers in the Westport Mentor's Program. Even at 83, Bill manages to find the time and energy to help our kids. “The only thing that I haven’t volunteered for in Westport is the Westport Woman’s League,” says Bill, “and that is only because I am a boy!” Lou Mall and Steve Haberstroh are other examples of how a little kindness goes a long way in a child’s life.

Is it possible that the soon-to-be Mrs. Stuart (aka Michele Albano/Michele’s Pies ) has done it again? Michele has been selected by The Fairfield County Business Journal as a winner of its Class of 2011, 40Under40 Award! Bravo Michele and best of luck with your upcoming nuptials and cookbook! To learn more about Michele’s Pies, visit www.michelespipes.com . Watch the bookstores for Michele’s first cookbook, “Perfect Pies,” to be released Sept 6.
