Westport Neighbors Notes

Life is six degrees of separation, as the saying goes. Featured this week is a second generation of kindness. Kaeleigh Pollard and Kelley Flynn held a garage sale to raise money for the Susan Fund. Kaeleigh’s mom, Kelly, sits on the board for the Susan Fund and put in many wonderful years with the Westport Young Woman’s League. Thank you for the good example set by Kelly and Kaeleigh!

Giannia Sarica is a recipient of a Susan Fund Scholarship and is also Band Together’s biggest fan. Here she is featured with John Oates in a Band Together concert to benefit the Connecticut Challenge. Keep sharing your incredible courage and spirit, Giannia!

Candace Banks, Ways & Means Chair of the Westport Young Woman’s League, received the 2011 Volunteer Recognition Award from the Volunteer Action Center. Candace was cited for her "warmth and graciousness, attention to detail, brilliant strategic planning and superb organizational skills." She received the award from Mayor Richard A. Moccia of Norwalk. Congratulations Ms. Banks!

Best of luck to Andrew Kingsbury, a 24-year veteran of the Westport Fire Department who has been appointed as the town's new fire chief. Keep us safe chief!!
