Jeannie Smith once told me, "I love walking into a party not knowing a single person. It gives me an opportunity to meet new people and create new friendships".
In a nutshell, that is the best way to describe Jeannie Smith: having the ability to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
I was first introduced to Jeannie Smith five years ago when our children attended preschool together. She served on the Preschool Board and was very active in finding ways to improve the school. While on the Board, she spearheaded “Mom's Connect”, a group designed to bring mothers together for encouragement, education and support.
As a member of the St. Paul Board, she was a vocal leader with strong convictions, but with a very open mind.
Jeannie's background as an educator always shines through; her time with her children is filled with “teachable moments”. She gently encourages her children to work hard and strive to be the best they can be. She pushes them to be positive role models. Each morning, before they step onto the bus, she reminds them to "be a strong leader, make good choices and use kind words."
She has created book clubs and sports clubs and has a strong passion for all Westport sports teams. She has generated enthusiasm among her children to be a part of the Westport community.
Jeannie Smith is the person I want advocating for my three children. She is honest, passionate, intelligent, dedicated and holds a very strong sense of community.
