To the Editor:
I’m fortunate to have known Jim Marpe for over 20 years. During that time, he has consistently been an involved member of the Westport community, showing a genuine concern for making Westport a better place for all of us.
He has had leadership roles in several community service organizations as well as town government. In all of these roles, he has demonstrated an ability to develop consensus and get results. He also has the perfect business background for the first selectman position as a senior partner at Accenture, solving complex problems for corporations while leading both small groups and large teams.
In his work for the town, he has shown an ability to cut through partisan politics and work with all those involved. If you were to draw up the ideal background and personality for our first selectman, you would create a profile very similar to Jim’s. We are all lucky that Jim has decided to run for first selectman and further serve the Westport community.
I’m a Democrat, but there’s no question in my mind that Jim is the best candidate for the job.
