To the editor:
Rightly or wrongly, I consider it a measure of my reaction to a candidate, that I feel enthusiastic about taking time to write a letter of endorsement in his behalf at this busy time of year, when family and community demands are crescendoing. There must be something, then, about Jim Marpe, if I so willingly take to the keyboard on his behalf!
And indeed there is something about Jim, something in the away of ability, thoughtfulness, and overall concern that one cannot help responding to, in his quest to serve as Westport’s first selectman.
As a lifelong Westport resident and unaffiliated voter, I have known Jim from a time preceding his candidacy for the Board of Education. In his tenure on the Board, and in working with him on other community and charitable concerns, I have always respected Jim for his definite and carefully thought-out views, as well as his willingness to accept and carefully consider suggestions and other perspectives.
The Marpe/Kaner ticket is the best choice for Westport, offering experienced, astute and attentive leadership.
