To The Editor:
As a parent of three children who all attended elementary, middle, and high school in Westport, I am cognizant of the importance of maintaining and improving school excellence which benefits our children, their parents, and the town's taxpayers. I believe the Republican team of nominees, Mike McGovern, Jeannie Smith, and Karen Kleine are the best candidates to provide the strong leadership needed to keep our schools excellent within reasonable and responsible budgets.
Mike McGovern currently is Vice-Chair of the Board and has the experience in finance and business to be a superb Board of Education chairman. By re-electing Jeannie Smith, a professional educator, and electing Karen Kleine, a former PTA president of Kings Highway and Coleytown Middle Schools, Mike McGovern will become the chair.
These Republican candidates have the best skills and experience to do an outstanding job working to keep our schools great with fiscal responsibility.
