WESTPORT, Conn. The gardens on the east side of Westport's Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge are no longer overgrown and filled with weeds. Instead, lush green hedges, colorful perennials, ornamental grasses and granite pillars decorate the area, now called the Gateway Gardens .
A ceremonial watering Sunday marked the completion of the gardens, designed and donated by the Wilton-based LaurelRock Co ., which was founded 35 years ago in Westport as Dickson DeMarche Landscape Architects. The gardens are valued at $35,000.
