"The holiday season is upon us, and I want to extend my best wishes for peace and prosperity, not only for Westport, but for the entire world," Marpe wrote.

"As we celebrate this season, let us remember those in our community and beyond who are not as fortunate as we are."

"Bishop Desmond Tutu said, 'Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.'"

"In Westport, we are truly blessed to have people who are smart, passionate and working to do what is honorable and right. If we all do our part, we can build upon our positive qualities and have them extend beyond our borders, as Bishop Tutu says, 'a little bit at a time.'"

"Let us work together during this season of goodwill to demonstrate that Westport is a place of compassion and peace," Marpe continued. "It is my hope that the New Year brings a refreshed intention to have our community be a source of inspiration; the kind of town where kindness, tolerance and philanthropy abound."

"I know I speak for all our Town’s elected officials, volunteers and staff in wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season, and all the best for health and happiness in 2016."
