FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Everyone loves a parade, and Fairfield County residents will have many choices to pick from on Monday to enjoy Memorial Day.

Participants will enjoy the nicest weather of the long weekend, with warm temperatures reaching about 70 degrees under sunny skies. Here are some of the parades and events set for Monday:


At 8 a.m., Greenwich American Legion Post 29 will hold its annual dockside service at Indian Harbor Yacht Club.

At 10 a.m., the Sound Beach Fire Department Memorial Day Parade will begin, running through downtown Old Greenwich, down Sound Beach Avenue from Laddins Rock Road to Shore Road, and ending at Binney Park.

New Canaan:

The parade steps off at 9 a.m. from St. Mark’s Church and make its way through downtown New Canaan to Lakeview Cemetery for a ceremony.


The Norwalk parade will start at Veterans Memorial Park at 10 a.m., head down Van Zant Street and turn onto East Avenue and end at the Norwalk Green.

According to the Norwalk Police Department, the entrance and exit ramps of I-95 at Exit 16 in Norwalk, both northbound and southbound, will be closed from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to allow the parade to proceed northbound on East Avenue.


The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Goodwives Shopping Center and wind its way to the Boston Post Road. The parade will end at the Veterans Cemetery on Hecker Avenue.


The Westport Memorial Day Parade starts at 9 a.m. from Saugatuck Elementary on Riverside Avenue It will end in Parker-Harding Plaza. A memorial ceremony will follow immediately on Veterans Green.


The parade starts at 10 a.m. on River Road, continues through Wilton Center and heads up Ridgefield Road to Hillside Cemetery for a memorial ceremony.


The Memorial Day 5K will start and finish at City Center. The race begins at 8:45 a.m. Registration is $30, and race day registration begins at 7 a.m. More information is available online .

The parade is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. from the intersection of Main and Rose streets. The parade marches down Main Street and finishes at Rogers Park. Gov. Dannel Malloy is scheduled to march.

A service in the Rose Memorial Garden will follow the parade about 11:30 a.m.


The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. with a short wreath-laying ceremony at the monument in front of Jesse Lee Memorial Church. It will go straight along Main Street from Route 102 down to Ballad Park, where there will be a closing ceremony.


St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will have its pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon next to Old Town Hall.

Fairfield's annual parade starts at 10 a.m., rain or shine from the intersection of South Pine Creek Road and Post Road. From there it will head down Post Road, turn onto Old Post Road, and stay on Old Post until it reaches the Town Hall Green at the intersection with Beach Road.

After the parade, a ceremony honoring those lost in military service will be held.

The Fairfield Museum and History Center will hold its annual picnic from noon to 3 p.m. on the green behind Old Town Hall. The Daughters of the American Revolution will also have a tag sale at the Old Academy nearby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


The Weston Memorial Day Fair runs from noon to 5 p.m. Unlimited ride bracelet will be honored all hours Monday.

Weston’s parade is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. The route runs from School Road neat Weston High School to Route 53 and onto Norfield Road, and ends at Town Hall. A brief ceremony will follow with presentations from local dignitaries.


The parade will start at 9 a.m., with marchers stepping off from the Easton Fire Station and heading down Center Road to Easton Town Hall. After the parade, town leaders will speak about the holiday in a ceremony at Town Hall.
