WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Schachter family of Westport participated in The Fresh Air Fund’s Friendly Towns Program in July and were among the winners of the 2016 photo contest.
All winners were selected from the hundreds of photos submitted by volunteer host families along the East Coast and southern Canada.
The photos capture the memorable and fun experiences The Fresh Air Family Fund's volunteer host families shared with Fresh Air children this past summer, according to a news release from The Fresh Air Fund.
Categories included “Laketime Fun,” “Summer Siblings,” “By the Beach" and “Gardening.”
The Schachters’ photo was selected as the winner in the “Fresh Air Foodies Category” and features Fresh Air child Jonathan, 9, baking a giant cookie in Westport with host sibling Aiden Schachter.
He spent eight days with the Schachters in July as part of The Fresh Air Fund’s Friendly Towns Program.
The Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877.
