Westport Designer Thinks Pink To Fight Cancer

WESTPORT, Conn. – As the owner of an interior decorating firm, Susan Glick is always on the go. Despite her busy schedule, this Westport resident recently loaned her talent to raise money to benefit women battling breast cancer.

Glick, owner of Susan Glick Interiors, designed and donated a chair that was auctioned off during the Pink Chair Luncheon and Fashion Show fundraiser at Mitchells of Westport on Oct. 5. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Pink Aid, a nonprofit group founded by the Mitchell family that finances breast cancer support services for local women in need.

"I was extremely honored to be asked to participate in such a wonderful event," said Glick, who was among a group of fashion and interior decorators invited to participate. "It was gratifying to help raise money for a great cause."

Glick's modern classic hot pink velvet armchair took her about a month to complete. It was one of 36 specially designed chairs up for auction during the event.

A mother of two, Glick started her career in the fashion industry and transitioned to interior decorating 13 years ago. This was the first time she designed anything for charity, and she hopes to participate in more charitable events.

"You're never too busy to give back a little," said Glick. "Giving back to the community is truly a wonderful experience. Everyone should carve out a little time to do something that's beneficial to others."
