WESTPORT, Conn. Westport chef Cindy Hartog, owner of Cindy's Sous Chefs , which specializes in cooking-themed birthday parties for kids, showed off her culinary skills during the 14th annual New York Chocolate Show .
During the all-things-chocolate extravaganza from Nov. 11 to 13, Hartog and her daughters Danielle and Deanna helped run the Kids Zone. There, kids could decorate chef hats, build sculptures with melted chocolate, decorate chocolate-dipped spoons, and create necklaces from candy and cereal, Hartog said.
On Friday, Hartog and Danielle, a Staples High School student interested in becoming a chef, held a demo on how to make chocolate molten lava cakes which Hartog said is one of the most popular desserts at the birthday parties she organizes.
"We had an audience of 100, with a standing crowd in the back," said Hartog. "I called about six or seven kids up out of the audience to help."
This was the second time Hartog participated in the chocolate show. The first time was in 2008.
