Tom Hurley worked at Westport's Curran Cadillac for eight years before hard times forced him out. After a stint selling Volkswagens, he's back in the luxury car market and hoping to attract some of his old clientele, even if that means getting them to take a ride to BMW of Bridgeport .
"I just had a very nice client base of folks I was serving in the Westport and Fairfield area that I would like to get back to," Hurley said as he settled behind his new desk at BMW of Bridgeport. He's been in his position for less than a month and already has snagged back a few loyal customers.
Though most dealerships have struggled, Hurley said BMW has faired well and just posted another month of gains. He attributed part of the success to the product. "It is the largest selling premium brand in the world," Hurley said.
Outside of the showroom, Hurley hits the links for a round of golf. In the past he would also take to the fields to run Shelton's soccer program. He worked his way up the ranks from referee to president of the league, but hasn't been directly involved in years. A resident of Huntington, he said he's proud of his involvement in the Shelton community.
As far as selling cars goes, Hurley said that after 14 years in the business he prefers the luxury brands. "I enjoy working with people and helping them fulfill their wants and needs," he said. That also means managing expectations. "They expect a high level of service and a high level of experience," Hurley said.
