WESTPORT, Conn. – You can browse through hundreds of antiques and vintage items while helping support a Westport nonprofit this Sunday during the first-ever Westport Antique & Vintage Market at Luciano Park in the Saugatuck section of town.

The market, which will feature 30 dealers, will benefit Homes With Hope, a Westport-based nonprofit that provides supportive housing and programs to the homeless, said market organizer Deborah Press.

“I wanted to bring something to the community that gives back, and this is what I know,” said Press, a 17-year resident who’s worked in the antique business for 25 years. “Having an antiques market in Westport just seemed like a no-brainer.”

The market, Press said, is the first outdoor vintage and antique market in Fairfield County. It will showcase a variety of merchandise, including industrial furniture, mid-century modern, pottery, ceramics, clothing, jewelry, farm and garden antiques, books, maps and posters.

“This is not going to be a flea market” Press stressed. “People will find quality antiques and vintage merchandise.”

Admission into the market is $2 for adults. Children are free. Hoping to encourage market-goers to patronize nearby restaurants, Press said no food will be sold.

Sunday’s market is the first of six planned through October. In addition to a portion of market proceeds going to Homes with Hope, residents of the nonprofit will be employed at each show.

“Everyone wants to have a job and to be useful, and to be able to provide that opportunity to our residents is a really valuable thing,” said Homes With Hope CEO Jeff Wieser, adding that the sign-up sheet for Sunday’s show filled up quickly. “I’m very excited about that.”

The market will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Luciano Park, across from the Westport train station. Other markets will be held Sept. 2, 16, 30 and Oct. 14 and 21.
